Among his many secrets, this is one secret Dumbledore would want to take to his grave. However, on a recent US book tour, the author, J.K. Rowling outed the Hogwarts master in a few words: Dumbledore is gay.
And then a collective gasp and applause.
His great love? Gellert Grindelwald. His fierce friend then rival. Rowling continued, “His love was his great tragedy.”
She paused. “Oh my god, the fan fiction.”
Already despised by conservative Christians for promoting witchcraft, this piece of news about the already-concluded series will give them another reason to loathe the series.
Does it matter if a character, read by millions of children, is gay? They wouldn’t even know it if not for Rowling’s recent revelation.
The more important question about this revelation is: Wouldn’t it be a lot better if Ian McKellen portrayed Dumbledore instead of Michael Gambon?
